WAIT U TIL THE SUMMER'S GONE The commons area teemed with intense anticipation as the Patriots returned from their brief vacation. Excitement was in the air as everyone looked forward to the routine of stu- dent life. Already counting the days until Christmas Vacation, the students waited in line for their schedules. This was it - the beginning of school was in full swinig. The Seniors invaded Lakeview on Monday, August 13th, in a cloud of thunder as they prepared for their final year. This was to be their final year . . . their best ever. Bidding a farewell to summer, the juniors returned ready to face the second half of their high school career with open hearts and open minds. Having reached 'lupperclasshoodf' they looked forward to a fan- tastic third year at Lakeview. The sophomores progressed through the long lines with strideful boredom on Wednes- day. After heaving a sigh of distress or relief upon the sight of their schedules, they departed homeward for one more week of serenity. Many freshmen came to Lakeview on Thursday the 16th, gazing in the awe at the vastness of their new school. The class of l'88 had begun. Each student was ready to enter high school. Each of the four classes was united for the common cause of starting the 1984-85 school year off right. So with hearts bright and faces cheery, the students prepared for school. Displaying poise, charm, and Patriot Pride, Annette Baily prepares to perform for the new freshmen. H . A ' The cheerleaders truly enjoyed putting on their skit at the pep rally. Labor Day, Our Day of Rest The Labor Day Parade was a festive occasion com- memorating the U.S. Labor Force. Once again, Lakeview led the parade showcasing its fine organizations such as our Band, Sweethearts, Liberty Dolls, Cheerleaders, and our mascots, the Minutemen. Our school symbol, The Liberty Bell, also was in attendance to stir up Patriot Pride. This year there were many girls competing for the title of 1985 Miss Garland. Among these contestants were several from Lakeview that showed their true Blue and,Gold Pride in competition: Annette Baily, Pam lopffin, Lori Pallet, and ludy Vank, and Sherri White. ludy Vank was later crowned 1985 Miss Garland showing that Lakeview Centen- nial is a home of winners. As the day ended and peo- ple got ready to go back to their homes, the true spirit of home, the true spirit of the Labor Day was instilled in us all. The elite of Garland on their way to the parade
