1 All signed up, now how to get there. lu- 'Q Shorts and T-shirt - summer was still going strong at registration. r t K .1 I , 1 Freshmen show pride in their new home. 45 A 1' gif. right. Hopes High as Year Begins The year started out with much hope that it would be the best. At registration one could feel a sense of enthusiasm among the students and faculty as the first days of summer ran down and the school year drew near. Familiar faces could be seen talking and laughing about old times, and some new faces could be spot- ted here and there. Final adjustments in schedules were made, room numbers and park- ing stickers were issued, and then for most, all was set for the upcoming year. For the new students, however, 16 Activities there was still orientation. The pep ralIy was to familiarize the new Patriots with the policies, goals, traditions and the personnel of Lakeview. The band, drill team and cheerleaders performed and Mr. Chumley briefed everyone on school policies and traditions. Afterwards, the students broke into smaller groups to be briefed further. After a long, hot summer, students and teachers alike seemed anxious to get back into the swing of things. Hopes were high as Lakeview prepared to begin its fifth year. A A Schedules were checked and rechecked to make sure everything was Armed with combs to cokes, students prepared for pictures.

l l 4 LCHS THE band marches proudly in the Labor Day Parade. P1 E ' K 5 nl Q The cheerleaders found a unique way of riding through this parade. The Minutemen and Patriot Robert Barr seem to be enjoying themselves Pats Shine in Jubilee The Jaycee Jubilee and Labor Day Parade are a Garland tradition. Lakeview was the first entry in this year's parade, which was the largest in Garland's history. It broke records for size, attendance and participation. Lakeview delighted spectators 18 Activities with performances by the cheerleaders, Minutemen, flag corps, band and drill teams. ' The Jubilee activities climaxed Labor Day night with Lakeview senior Carol Johnston being named Miss Garland. Lisalee Thatch and Debbie Welk were finalists in the contest.
