Freshman Blue The Freshman Blue team finished the season with a 4-6 record. The offense was led by James Pul- ley, Mark Draham and Page Ralston. Bobby Watters, an outstanding passer, was the starting quarterback. The Blue team's defense was, per- haps, its strongest point. The top defensive players were Clay Davis, Jay Monroe and Mike Bullock. Lead- ing the secondary was Mark Ham- bliri. ln the game against North Garland, the Pat defense came out on top as the Lakeview team held the Raiders scoreless and won the game 6-O. After battling for three quarters, the Pats surprised N.G. with a quick kick on third down, pinning the Raiders on their own 10 yard line. On the Raiders second play, their quarterback dropped back but an aggressive Patriot pass rush forced him to pass before he was ready. Clay Davis intercepted and returned the ball all the way to score the touchdown that won the game for the Freshman Blue. Jeff Jackson doesn't want to get involved. 186 Sports - i Row 1: Jay Monroe, Mark Draham, Rob Johnson, Jeff Jackson, Jim Foster, Mike Bullock, James Pul ley, Page Rolston, Jeff Waller. Freshman Gold The 1980 Freshman Gold team had a fantastic season with nine wins and one loss. This was one of the best records produced by a freshman team. The offense was led by the rushing of Terry Dorathy, Brian Kurth and Sammie Jeans. Quarterback Ken Ferrell had a good year running the offense. The Patriot defense was a big key to a successful season posting four shutouts. Defensive ends Brad Lucky and Kevin Shoves along with line- backers Dorathy and Chris Garcia led the team in tackles. The South Garland-Lakeview game was all that would be expected. The Pats got off to a first half lead 12- O with a two yard touchdown from Ferrell and a 65 yard touchdown from Kurth. The second half was a different story with two touchdown passes from the Colonels. The Patriots received the ball on the 30 yard line with 1:30 left in the game. FerreII's passing attack drove the Pats down to the S.G. two yard line, with four seconds remaining. Darathy carried over for the T.D. on the last play of the game giving the Pats the win 18- 12. 4- . an Q,-5im,,,5' Q ' fi I -.af ,AL v. -1 . 1 is .
