y Cheerleaders l'Si'f Va .L cn o O -1 to m E. N at z o 3 on Varsity Cheerleaders build spirit, pride Cheerleaders have always been associated with school spirit and good sportsmanship. This year the Varsity squad has done a good job promoting both. The girls went to camp during July at the University of Oklahoma and went to work on a middle school clinic as soon as they got home. Long hours of practice continued through August, as they prepared for football season. When the time came for the first game of the season the cheerleaders were ready for the year. They spon- sored many spirit days, all of which went over well. During the week of the game against Garland High, the two cheerleading squads got together and held a unity pep rally at the iunior high field. Each year the Varsity and Junior Varsity go together to sponsor Lakeview's 50's day. This year Dash Ftiprock and the Dragons rocked and rolled us down memory lane. The busy schedule the girls keep was not over after football season. Basketball games, beginning in mid November and continuing through March, caused more hard work. For the first time the cheerleaders travel- ed to all pre-season games. All eight girls are always glad when the end of the year finally comes around so that they can relax.
