su. - I in fu.. Student Council sponsored a drive before Christmas to help needy families. Student Council puts service first Student Council is a vital part of any school. Under the leadership of sponsor Donna Hoffman, Lakeview is no exception. Throughout the school year, Stu- dent Council works with the ad- ministration, the community and most importantly the students. Early in the year, Student Council officers, participated in Registration and orientation. They escorted freshmen to their designated areas and were aides to counselors. The Council made a special effort this year to promote sportsmanship and healthy intra-school relation- ships. Through an all-city pep rally and special friendship workshop, they are able to reach out to the community in effective ways. A unique method of community in- volvement was the first Career Day at Lakeview January 30. Student Coun- Organization cil, in coopration with faculty and ad- ministration, called on various Garland professionals to speak to Lakeview students regarding dif- ferent types of careers. Student Council's prime directive has been more than fulfilled this year as students were able to enjoy a uni- que Homecoming. The theme was Under the Big Top and the at- mosphere was one of carnival fun. The Centennial Ball and Legacy Honors presentation was at its best this year as Student Council, in cooperation with the Legacy staff, produced a show of shows. N51 ' iff' I ANBPN X? fqiw' on. oir Ch .4 N Q Choirs have another great year During the past year Lakeview's choral department has grown bigger and better than ever. They have par- ticipated in many choral events and made a definite contribution to the school and community. Late in October the Choir spon- sored a haunted house that provided ghoulish delights for the Garland area. Choir members dressed in grotesque apparel in order to raise money for the Choral department. During the holiday season singing Patriots visited the facility at Medical City and caroled at Richardson Square Mall. A Capella Choir won the Most Popular choir award in a competition that all Garland choirs participated in. One highlight of this year's concert season was the fine Cabaret Show, On Broadway. Choral members joined together to produce an enter- taining evening complete with a lasagna dinner and short concert from Freedom. Under the direction of Marty White, the choirs participated in the Sounds of America competition held this year in Nashville, Ten l ., . , Q 4 W 1 Mike Pryor does his Glenn Cambell impression.
