A Glimpse Into the Future??? While making our annual trip through the S.S. Laketonian, which has been in dry dock since 1958, we were taken on a tour of the Captain’s cabin. To satisfy our curious nature we searched the cabin thoroughly. During our search we found a log, in which was a list of the crew of ’58. Being of an inquisitive nature, also, we asked the Captain about this former crew. Here is what he told us: Commodore Schuler (They liked him so well as president of the class that they made him head of the ship.) was so studious while in high school that he has been hired as a special tutor to tutor the teachers at Laketon. After leaving the crew in 1958, Steve Butterbaugh began play- ing his saxophone in the famous Lawrence Welk Band. They just returned from an around the world concert tour. While in Monaco, Steve met the former Grace Kelly, who introduced him to a beautiful lady singer. We hear that Steve is soon going to return to Monaco. Jan Ohmart has put her gift of gab to good use and is now a world famous orator. One strange thing about her is. she can’t seem to speak very well without music. She got the habit from chorus class. First Mate. Harold Harmon, always had a great love for basket- ball. He is now coaching the world famous girls’ basketball team, “Harold’s Harem.” P.S.: He loves his work. Barbara Entsminger, who was president of so many things while in high school, has written a book entitled. The Poverty and Progress of a President. It is fast becoming a best-seller and is especially popular around Washington, D. C. First Lieutenant, Max Neher, has gone far! So far. in fact, that we don’t know where he is! He is believed to have volun- teered for the job as pilot of the first satellite to the Moon. Larry Davis, with his trombone, and Don Mylin, with his drum, have formed a little musical group known as. “The Cotton Pieken’ Combo.” They are touring the country with their latest hit record, Julie, if you’ll be my Special Angel, At the Hop, ’ Get a Job and Stroll down to the store and buy you some I’enny Loafers and Bobby Soxr Judy McCullough, who was a nurse on the S.S. Laketonian, has become head nurse on the Queen Elizabeth. Her latest project in the field of medicine is making “seasick pills for seasick sailors.” Seamen, Jim Wing and Gene Kirby, put both their secrets of keeping slim together and are now running “Gene’s and Jim’s Slenderella Salon.” Now plump ladies are able to wear jeans (Gene’s) and slim-jims (Jim’s). Darlene Schipper revolutionized the greenhouse business. She has found an amazing new use for it. She is now growing “little green men.” P.S.: She is putting Mars out of business! The last time the Captain saw Donald Drudge, he was taking a beauty nap. He was getting ready to compete for the Mr. America title. Sharon Fairchild, through her love of underwater activities, has become a noted skindiver. She has the world’s collection of skins. She is now exploring the Wabash River chasing her latest victim “The Rockin’ Rollin' River Eel.” Penny White is now editor of the Laketon Daily Blabber. She got her experience by being one of the editors of the gossip column of the Tiger News. Floyd Bradford and Merle Fryer have gone into business to- gether. They now own a printing shop. They are making lots of money. Orpha Louks, who was on the quiet side has now crossed over to the other side and is now starring as Sheena in her own television series. Tom Pence was chef of the ship. (He got his cooking ex- perience that week he stayed with Max Neher.) He became so talented with the pots and pans, and was so good-looking, that he is now doing a television commercial cooking “the weiner the world has awaited.” Marilyn Swygart. during a vacation in Alaska, fell in love with a handsome Eskimo. They are now married and own a thriving business making “Eskimo Pies.” Second Mate, Phil Clingenpeel, has become a world famous electrician. His latest project is lighting up “Darkest Africa.” Sherry Harmeson has changed the color of her hair so much during school that she is now doing it for others. She has her own Beauty Shop in Stringtown. Her sign outside says: “If you would like to die, do it here!” Seaman, Floyd Sims, through his experience narrating the band shows, now has his own radio show. It is called the “Simmie’s Singing Sailor Show.” Glenna Brubaker is now married and is taking over the United States Government. In addition to her husband, Ike, she now has four little Senators. Howard White, known as the eighth wonder of the world, has just completed a space ship to take people on pleasure trips to the Moon. We hear the Class of ’58 is planning a reunion on the Moon. Thus was our curious nature satisfied and we restored the log to its former place. We thanked the Captain for this interesting information and bid a fond farewell to the S.S. Laketonian.
