LOOKING INTO THE FUTURE In the year of 1966, A.D. The other afternoon several of us were strolling down Laketon Avenue and decided to go over to the airport to see the new ticket building. As we entered the airport grounds we met a former Laketon student, Everett Wrightsman, who was waiting for the next plane to Dallas, Texas. You know, Everett is now presi- dent of the Mickey Mouse Mouse Trap Company there and is now supplying mouse traps for the H.A.A. (Hyp- notists Association of America.) After telling us all about the mouse trap factory, he told us the latest news about his classmates, the Class of 1956. On the previous Sunday they had met at Round Lake for their 10th-year class reunion. All of the graduates were present except Donald Long who was in Africa captur- ing six live lions for the Barnum Bailey Circus. He has been the lion tamer there for several years. John White also works there. He is the featured attraction in the Big Top as the tallest man in the world. He is now 11 feet 1 1 inches tall (when on his stilts). Everett then told us about Pat Amiss. She is repre- senting Ijamsville in the current Miss America contest to be broadcast on colored television over Laketon's T-l-G-E-R-S network. Marleah Frantz is now married and her husband has a large ranch in Colorado. She invited the Class of '56 there for their next reunion. Evelyn Pearson and Nancy French are in Yellow- tone Park operating a concessions stand. They enjoyed working at the concessions stand so much when they were seniors that they decided to make that their life work. Then Everett told us about Welby Simpson. He is now captain of the police force in Laketon. He decided he couldn't lick em so he'd join em. Ronnie Dickerhoff is looking forward to driving in the 500 mile race at Indianapolis. Yes, you guessed it. He's going to drive his Dad's Plymouth. Martha Kline, the senior from Florida, decided to return to Florida and take part in the high dive con- tests along the Atlantic. Pat Metzger has been an air stewardess, but an- nounced her engagement to a movie star while at our reunion. Peter Meyer, the exchange student from Germany, decided to remain in the United States. He is now a famous psychiatrist in Hollywood, California. Bill Kline and Larry Brubaker settled in Stringtown. Bill is dance master at the Kline Dance School, and Lar- ry operates the ADDING MACHINE FIXIT SHOP in Stringtown. Joyce Smith is working as secretary in the shop. On our next week-end jaunt to New York City, be sure to stroll down Frenchie Avenue where Shirley Lyons has her art work displayed along the curb. If you will stop and look up 13 stories to the little win- dow 20th from the left you might see Shirley peering over her trusty easel. Ruth Ebbinghous is also in New York City and is now a singer in the Metropolitan Opera House. Last winter, while we were in New York City, we visited a ballet show and were impressed by tUfe light- footedness of the star. After the show we inquired as to the identity of the star and were amazed to find that the slender and beautiful star was none other than Charlotte Ohmart. Janice McCullough is now Mighty Red, the lady wrestler, who often appears on the television network. Merl Wilson is now a movie actor. His first appear- ance will be in the movie Bachelor's Paradise. Ted Hudson, known in high school as Reckless Ted, is now the Drivers' Training Instructor at Laketon Univer- sity. Steve Vrooman is now the star snail pacer for the Olympic contests. Did we forget to tell you about any of the grad- uates of the Class of '56? Oh, yes, JoAnn Siegfred. She is enjoying herself very much as a chewing gum tester for the Smacky Wacky Chewing Gum Corpora- tion in Cucamongo, Rhode Island. We enjpyed our visit with Everett Wrightsman very much, and as his plane arrived we were sorry to bid him farewell.
