The 1968-1969 faculty and student body appreciate the knowledge and guidance we have received from Mrs. Stover, teacher of mathematics. We wish to express our gratitude by dedicating this Lance to her. Mrs. Stover attended Manchester College in 1922 until 1925, and four years later she received her M.S. Degree from Saint Francis College and majored in school counseling. Besides her teaching career, Mrs. Stover is active in organizations concern- ing education and recreation. A few of these organizations which she belongs to are North Central Association Convention, P.T.A., and Phi Delta Kappa Honor Sorority for Women Teachers. For all this we thank her and dedicate this yearbook to her. A DMINISTRA TION Mr. Jackson, our principal, has applied his abil- ities at Lakeside Junior High School for five years. He has helped make our school one of the best in the Fort Wayne area. A principal has a number of very impor- tant duties. He is responsible for the entire operation of our school. Mr. Jackson holds conferences with the guid- ance staff, custodial staff, r-fp and cafeteria person- nel. He has to plan events not only for this year, but for oncoming years also. Throughout these impor- tant jobs, he takes time out to talk to students personally. Mr. Jack- son is a great asset to Lakeside. Mr. Hoffman is Lakeside ' s Assistant Principal He is one of the three guidance coordinators and does individual counseling. He takes care of all student activities and assigns all students to lockers and home- rooms. Each year he has to take inventory of all books and sup- plies, program hearing and visual tests, and schedule assemblies. He is kept hopping all day long and there ' s never a dull moment when he ' s around. Mr. Hoff- man truly is valuable to Lake- side. Mr. Raymond Schott became part time guidance counselor this year. He works along with Miss Bourff and Mr. Hoffman. His other duties include being the Student Council Advisor and teaching Latin. Miss Bourff is full time guidance counselor here at Lakeside. Some of her tasks are making necessary program changes, helping students with problems they might have, and preparing them for high school. Mrs. Shirley Davis is Lakeside s study hall clerk and the Director of Attendance. She has the job of keeping study hall to a quiet roar and also keeping a record of the attendance. Mrs. ' Roberta Ellingwood is kept busy with the job as one of our secretaries. She does all jobs of a sec- retary plus some little odds and ends. She also has the special job of payroll clerk. fimiyj Mrs. Ruth Messerschmidt is our other secretary. She does many of the same jobs as Mrs. Ellingwood. She also has a special job: school treasurer. Freshman Memories Forever As dusk closes down over the grounds, darkening the glaring sun, it does not block out the burning memories which are amongst us: For our minds are sound. Let us leave it by, Our places left unmarred. And forsake it for the future, Let us only it ' s memories regard. We see gleaming before us many a golden road And each can choose which one to take For our mind and soul are burdened with many a load. Memories will burn and evaporate But . . . before it ' s too late, the heart bleeds for the knowledge learned For the next world we so bearably earned. Yes, the farewells are painful but brave will we be, for never will we regret our knowledge, manners, and most of all maturity. Lakeside — you symbolize these traits and, if we follow your footsteps We will succeed; wherever a door is open. Yes, you Lakeside, will be proud — success is yours, because of the successes of those whom have passed through your immutal doors. 8th GRADERS LOOK FORWARD TO FRESHMAN YEAR Hte l David Ackerman Brad Altevogt Bill Amstutz Chuck Armstrong Bruce Ashe Karen Augsburger Janet Aumiller Sandra Badger David Baldwin Debbie Baldwin Carl Bandy Ted Baron John Barrett Gene Bartlett Thea Baughman Judy Baumgardner Barb Bedwell Doug Biedenwig Tom Blackburn Vicki Bohnke Dave Borkenstein Susan Borror Bob Bowman Jean Brackmann Margo Brackmann Beverly Brantley Mike Bregenzer Allyn Brinker -- i Bruce Brown Curt Brown Jerry Brown Joy Bumgardner Janine Burke Larry Burton Joan Cameron Edward Carboni Michelle Carto Casey Chrzan Cathy Cline Susan Cline Tim Cole Terry Coles Colleen Collins Bruce Conrad Roxanne Converse Patricia Cornelius Cheryl Correa Cheryl Cour Dan Cox Marilyn Crain Julie Culbertson Gloria Dahman John Daniel Dan Dau Charles Davis Kathy Davis Mark Davis Mark R. These students are in the hands of Mrs. Davis, and she is there to help whenever needed. Dev. Reading — Developmental Reading is to help the seventh graders learn how to improve their reading habits. Mrs. Rinne is teaching these students through both old and new methods which help to speed up their skill in reading. Mr. Schoeffs ninth grade Biology students ad- mire the various insect collections owned by hardworking students. They caught and mounted the different varieties of insects during the past summer and fall months.
