W. L-a J I ill Lakeside Junior H igh School Fort Wayne, Indiana Volume VII LANCE 1966 Principal Oversees School Day Being principal of a great school like Lakeside isn ' t the easiest of jobs, but Mr. Jackson enjoys his job. He starts each morning with announcements of school games, activities, and accomplishments, as well as upcoming events. Attend- ing board and faculty meetings, various conferences, and P.T.A. meetings are also a part of his job. In his busy day he works con- tinually for the improvement of Lakeside and education as a whole. However, Mr. Jackson can always find time and is always in- terested in talking with students or faculty members. Mr. Jackson is as proud to be principal of Lakeside as we are to have him as our principal. 1373396 Mr. Wittmer, our staff assistant, has a busy day assisting the students and faculty. As our guidance counselor, he helps students with their prob- lems. He also pre- sides over assemblies and supervises the cafeteria at noon. One of his favorite duties is advising the Student Council, whose officers are pictured here with hini. Aided by Staff Assistant Mrs. Pelz has joined Mrs. Messersehmidt in our office this year. Both secretaries aid Mr. Jackson, Mr. Wittmer, the students, and the teachers. Miss Bourff finds her new job, being the girls ' student counselor, quite interesting. It brings her closer to the girls of Lakeside and their problems and requests. MR. CHARLES ADAMS Phys. Ed. Coach 1,1 MR. CARL ANDERSON Biology Health Safety MR. These may be pep ses- sions, holiday programs, or guid- ance assemblies. Here the seventh grade is meeting during home- room to nominate class officers. Art Ever) ' student at Lakeside has an opportunity to develop his creative abilities in Mrs. Mil- ton ' s art class. Here students can study art and learn to appreciate it, besides enhanc- ins; their own artistic skills. Home Arts Every seventh grader en- rolled at Lakeside profits from taking Home Arts. Here the students learn the basic repairs needed for various home fixtures by helping to make and study models of these things. They also discuss topics pertaining to the general care of a home. Home Economics Home Economics is re- quired for every eighth grade girl. A few ninth grade girls also benefit from this class. These students learn the basic skills of homemaking. As shown in this picture, they have panel discus- sions on such topics as good grooming, nutri- tion, cooking, and sew- ing. Industrial Arts Industrial Arts is taught to all eighth grade boys and some ninth grade boys. In this class students learn the basic use and knowledge of tools. Working with a varied assortment of materials, includ- ing plastics, woods, metals, and electric- ity, each student makes and turns in different projects throughout the year. French Sixteen ninth grade students are taking French this year with Mr. Koegel. It is impor- tant to practice French daily in order to know the right pronunciation and accent of words. Language Studies Spanish If you hear odd sounds com- ing from room 105, don ' t be surprised if it ' s Miss Brudi ' s Spanish class. Some ninth grade students choose to continue their study of Gen- eral Science instead of taking Biology.
