French students were afforded the opportunity to join Mrs. Heck in an exciting trip to Europe this past June. This sixteen-day tour included such highlights as Versailles Palace, Chartres Cathedral, Mont St. Michel, and the Normandy Cemetary. Cities such as London, Paris, Nice Monaco, and Geneva were also visited. One of the interesting aspects to this trip was the chance to observe different cultures and their people. Since the majority of time spent on this tour was in France, Mrs. Hecks French students were able to see the French language in action as well as participate in it. This particular trip allowed one to get a taste of Eur- ope. It was deHnitely a memorable ex- perience. A second group, the Lakeside Stu- dent Council ofticers, escorted by Mr. Paul Quattlebaum tra veled to Provi- dence, Rhode Island for their Na tional Association of Student Council Con- vention. After touring Providence, the group traveled to Washington, DC, vis- iting such places as the Whitehouse, the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Cen- ter, and Arlington Cemetery. While in Washington, Mr. Quattlebaum and the student council officers were able to enjoy the Fourth of July festivities. After a pick- nic lunch in the mall area of DC, this group was able to see a performance of the Beach Boys and Julio Iglesias. On their way home, they visited the homes of James Madison in Virginia and Andrew Jackson in Tennessee. Not only being educational and interesting, this trip was fun. Another group traveling this summer from Arkansas was eight students who visited England for a chance to play tennis to tour- naments held in Creigleigh and Felixstow. Accompanied by Coach .lack Bridges, they found playing tennis on grass a great chal- lenge. The group spent the majority of time touring in London and also shopped at Her- rods. Hopefully you can join in these unique experiences with these students. TRAVELI . . . ERYO E'S DREAM AM Tnrs 'Q 37 Wi y Mrs. Heck is that you behind those Foster Grants?

A Kelly and Angela show off a Porshe at Brook- hill Camp. R A M T HIS CRUISING 'CX-'7 A TEENAGE REALITY One of the most popular pasttimes in Hot Springs is CR UISING. How do you cruise? First-find a car, second-get together with a friend, or two or three, third-crank up the radio, and fourth- E head for town. The usual run is down Central Ave- nue. Back and forth go all the local teens. McDonalds is a favorite place, but the Hot Spot is definitely Sonic. Here you can find out whois in town, who they are with, and where all the parties are. You see friends from differ- ent schools, or those who do not attend V' school. Of course, no cruising trip would be complete without at least one trip around the fountain. The fountain is a turning point for most cruisers and then it's back to Sonic, McDonalds, or K- Mart for the get-together and swapping of rides. Then off you go again, falling i into a routine. What fun! What excite- ment!! It's downtown Hot Springs at night. 4 4' my 'tial ' -- Lamar wants you to go cruising with him. M 10 ' Dana can't you get Bee to pick you up?
