ampus life was much the same as it is today. The students laughed and joked, worried about impending exams, and were involved in ex- tracurricular activities. As for these activities, they participat- ed in the Music Club, which of- ten presented programs for the entire school, the Drama Club which performed annual plays, the Home Ee Club and the Sci- ence Club, which participated in the 4-H and science fair for Garland County Fairs. Al- though each club was active, no dues were required because the majority of the students could not afford the expense of club dues. At the end of theyear a senior banquet and senior tea were held instead of a Junior-Senior Prom. The teachers would get together and plans the banquet which was held in a home of one of the teachers. Life for these first students of Lakeside revolved around the home, church and school. Each played a major part in their lives.

f course, an education was the main issue, and the students in Lake- side's early years viewed the learning process in a very seri- ous light. They had a great re- spect for learning and they real- ly strived to gain knowledge. They were always eager to learn and didn't seem to be bored with school, The reason they didn't regard school as drudgery was because they knew they were fortunate to be able to af- ford to go to school. Many times, the students could not come to school because they had to help with the harvesting or other chores at home.
