Memoriam To Ben Bogard Lakeside lost a dear friend this year in Mr. Ben Bogard, Middle School Counselor. Many of us were blessed to have had him as a counselor and friend. Mr. Bogard was an energetic, happy person who loved Lakeside, and his glow of warmth reached all who knew him. He came to Lakeside' in 1960 as a social studies teacher. In his 16 years at Lakeside he served as sponsor of the freshman class, sophomore class, junior class, and senior class . He was sponsor of the store workers and the student council. His voice was heard on the radio and over the loud speaker at almost every football game held. He attended almost all of the sports events and kept score at basketball games . He served as maintenance director, as well as counselor, and could be seen many summers and after hours painting, building fences, cleaning, and generally keeping things in good order. In 1965 the annual dedication to Mr. Bogard read as follows: ln return for the priceless gifts of knowledge and inspiration he has bestowed on us--it is our way of expressing our gratitude and sincere appreciation for all that he has done as a teacher in Lakeside High School. Mr. Bogard will be missed at Lakeside, but we should not grieve as we know that he, in his optimistic way, would want us to carry on. The 1977 RAMSTAFF dedicates this book as a memoriam to Ben Bogard.
