lib age Set p0r School Year , The June 14, 1982 millage vote passed the needed nineteen mills to keep the school functioning. However, the additional two mills that support school activities were defeated. The defeat reflected the community facing hard times which were brought on by continual inflation and unemployment. The outcome of this vote then set the stage for the beginning 1928-83 school year. Early in the year Mr. Reilly predicted the following school year as “unsure.” Mr. Reilly did, however, comment that the academic level of study would continue to run well. The effects of the hard times began in the previous school year when teachers were pink slipped in the spring. Cuts included the elimination of busing in a mile and a half radius of school, various freshman and junior sports. Pom Pons, field trips, and the musical and school plays. Although complaints were heard through the course of the year, the abilities and interest of faculty, students, and parents working together secured financial support elsewhere for activities cut. 1.
