77 Varsity Football LANCER STANDOUTS The 1977 football squad was an excit- ing, dedicated, and hard hitting group of young men who always came to play. Even though we were not a championship team we played many quarters as champions, but just never seemed to come up with the big play at the right moment. However we did have two outstanding achievements this year; Paul Freer scoring 96 points, which is the most ever scored in a season at Lakeshore, and Dave DeVoir is now the all time top defensive tack- ier with 145 hits. We also had excel- lent leadership from our captains Odell Brister and Jaimie Lingle and four all-conference players, Joe Ro- driguez, Paul Freer, Marc Florian, and Dave DeVoir. The coaching staff will always remember these young men as a team that was fun to coach. Best of luck to the 77 football team and may all of you have many more excit- ing moments in the future.

The 1977-78 Freshman Football team enjoyed a very successful season. Their only blemish was a 12-12 tie with Dowagiac. The team ended with a 5-0-1 record. The backfield of Matt Treacy, Todd Ehman, Tim Gelander, Dave Mack, and Brad Kerly com- bined speed and power to offensively dominate their opponents. The men who comprised the offensive line, Al Nitz, Mark Hickox, Mark Thornton, Rob Cambell, Ray Amicarelli and Doug Clem did an outstanding job of opening large holes which paved the way for many a score. The defensive unit was equally impressive. Tim Gelander, Bill Bancroft, Scott Kerlikowski, and Don Notaro spearheaded a tough, unyielding defense which played consistently all year. 22
