This years Homecoming was a big success; our foot- ball team winning over River Valley 43 to 6. The weeks events started on Saturday, October 8, with the beginning of float construction. The Ugly Men contest began Monday with nine contestants: Dan Hanson, Scott Lee, Mark Murphy, Al Ochsner, Mike Poulson, Mark VanOsdal. They dressed up all week in wild outfits competing for everyones spare change. Thursday night was our traditional bonfire, beginning with a car caravan that drove right through Saint Joe's bonfire. Afterward, back at the school, Mark VanOsdal was proclaimed winner of the Ugly Men contest. On Friday we had beautiful weather for the afternoon assembly which was at- tended by most students. The first event was the spirit award yelldown which the juniors took away. Next came the parade of floats, followed by the underclass Queen representatives and the Senior Queen candidates. The Student Council revived an old tradition by introducing the King candidates. They were: Dave Devoir, Paul Freer, Jamie Lingle, Mitch Mammina, and Tom Underwood. The win- dow painting contest winners were announced with first place going to Lynn Heaslip and Scott Lee, se- cond place to Laurie Kroening and Nancy Clark, and Third place to Donna Harris and Pegi Yore. For the first time ever, the Senior girls challenged the junior girls to a game of football, played after the assembly. The Seniors, getting even for the spirit award loss, destroyed them 14-0. The fabulous pregame show featured the band, the underclass Queens, and the announcement of the float contest winners. The Juniors came in first, the Seniors second, the Medi- cal Careers was third, with the Freshmen float fourth. The Pom-Pon girls did Another Opening, Another Show, for their halftime show routine. The crown went to Kathy VanOsdal. Closing up the weeks acti- vities, on Saturday night was the Homecoming Dance. This year it was held at the high school. The band was Pulman West. The King, crowned at the dance, was Jamie Lingle. 11
