After the first two games of the season, the Lan- cers turned into a powerhouse, rolling over their foes by a combined score of 224-30. Pete Bartschke led the team with 10 touchdowns, followed by Ron Field with 9. Bartschke was the team's leading ground gainer (504 yds.). He was fol- lowed by Ken Miston (345), Joe Camp- bell (253), and Field (241). Matt Mohler completed 19 of 36 passes, 10 to Bartschke. Leading tacklers were Marc Florian (40) and Bill Wolter (35). THE HAND-OFF GOES FROM THOMPSON TO GREG HOPKINS, AS OTHER LANCERS BLOCK. 4. GREG HOPKINS STOPPED AF- TER A GAIN, AS 80-JOE SHAFER LOOKS ON. 5. THE MIGHTY LANCER DEFENSE STOPS A ST. JOE RUNNER. The J.V. Football team ended their season with a 2-3-3 record. Paul Freer led the team in rushing with 770 yards in 157 carries. Greg Hopkins was second with 355 yards in 73 carries. Quarterback, Doug Thomp- son, completed 25 passes in 61 at- tempts for 519 yards. His main target, Kerry Myers, caught 13 passes good for 214 yards. Scoring leader was Paul Freer with 36 points on 6 TD's. Greg Hopkins was next with 4 TD's for 24 points. Leading tacklers were Jamie Lin- gle with 93 and Joe Rodriquez with 78. Kerry Myers and Mitch Mammina led the team with 4 interceptions each. Coach Salvano cited Paul Freer, Doug Thompson, Greg Hopkins, Jamie Lingle, Mitch Mammina, Bob Brown, Dave Devoir, Mark Owens, Tom Under- wood, and Kerry Myers as outstanding players. Bill Johnson was assistant coach.
