THE STAFF SPORTS CLASS B ALL-STATE CHAMP MARK TOLLAS A great portion of the success of the 1969 football team must be contrib- uted to Mark Tollas. He was the key to our offense. His size, speed, and durability enabled us to build the of- fense around him. His off-tackle run- ning ability was superb. Late in the season, his outstanding blocking al- lowed the offense to become much more diversified. He was also an excellent pass receiver. In addition to possessing the physical skills necessary- to excel, Mark provided leadership and inspiration to the en- tire squad. He is truly an outstanding player and a fine young man. s E N I O R S Co-Captai] k. Rodewa BOTTOM ROW L-R: B. Bayless, G. Shafer, J. Craig, G. Rodewa Id, D. Zuhl, J. Bellavia, T. Jewell. When the two are combined they form a very enviable combination. 2) It was an intelligent group. Their average grade point was 2. 7, and they ranked in the top 1 3 of their class. They made few mental errors. 3) It was a team that played well together. It possessed great group harmony. The entire team had a purpose and objective. 4) they played sound football. A team's success can be measured by offensive and defensive consistency. They displayed both. I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with such a fine group of players and coaches. It has been a very rewarding experience. 9 JUNIOR VARSITY WINS! BOTTOM ROW L-R: J. It is to educate and to explore, and working together today, to know how real justice can be found for everyone. You of the 21st century have the greatest interest of all citizens in good law and able and just enforcement. It is no pious phrase to say that your constitutional freedoms are only words on paper if the integrity and ability of the courts of the decency of those in law enforcement, be they policeman or lawyers, are in any way diminished of destroyed. You cannot protect your rights or satisfy your duties unless you not only know them but also understand how they are recognized, applied and enforced. In other words, you must know the system. --Judge Byms Mr. Fell, Mr. Humes, Mr. Greendonner, Judge Byms NATURALIZATION SERVICE You students and now you new citizens share the great- est privilege and the strong- est human union in man's history--United States citizenship. Congratulations to a new citizen! 39 A proud moment! 40 The Marching Band The Coneert Band THE MARCHING BAND The marching band, 111 members strong, is led by drum major Mike Zinkil and by baton twirlers Diana Hendrix, Sharon Jannart, and Barbara Kramer. The marching season, in the words of the band's director, Mr. Lesser, is too long. It lasts during all of the football season and occures again in the spring. BAND CAMP Band camp is held every year in the late summer at a camp on Shavehead Lake, near Cassopolis. Band members attend and learn the new routines that the band will present during its marching season. Behind our editor, Linda Fritz, we have spent many hours together as a staff. Now we are looking forward to the book coming out in August. 64 ADMINISTRATION FACULTY This year has truly been a memorable year for the students and staff of Lakeshore High School. Tremen- dous accomplishments in the classrooms have been achieved by our students. In extra curricular activi- ties of our teams and groups have truly excelled. The hard work and devotion of an interested lively stu- dent body has been evidenced by the results achieved by the students of Lakeshore High School. Many changes have been made during this year and it seems in this world that the only sure thing is that change will continue to be a main factor of development. No matter what your next year and years may hold 1970 will provide many memorable moments and many experiences that will help guide us to a better future. The Class of 1970 is leaving us to go on many trails of adventure, achievement and explor- ations. The classes of 71 G 72 will advance a grade and welcome the class of 1973 to our building next year. As we approach the elusive future, we should keep in mind the idea of rising our ability to further the development of ourselves, our family, our school, our community, our state and our nation to the highest possible potential. 66 Mrs. Bischoff He went that-a-way! 6g SECRETARY Mrs. Davis SUPERINTENDENT Mr. Stacey GUIDANCE COUNCELORS—Mrs. Williams and Mr. Lambert CUSTODIAN—Mr. Domke DIRECTOR OF FOOD SERVICES—Mra.
