LAKESH ORE When you think of a high school, what do you see? This is the picture that comes to me: A high school is people—teenagers and all. It's assemblies and classes, and a rush in the hall. It's panic at grade cards; it's red and white It's thrills and excitement that never grows trite Suspense fills the hallways, and rivalry's keen All yearn for a scholarship; who will be the Queen? A high school means projects and clubs with their fun, And everyone working till all tasks are done; Tense moments at ball games—will we win or not? That Fightin' Lancer spirit means more than we thought. What is a high school? What is its story? We've told it here in all of its glory! With a cheery smile And a wave of the hand He has wandered into An unknown land. Think of him still as the same, I say, He is not dead— He is just away. 3 DEDICATION Mr. Lesser is this year's selection for the annual's dedication. We have chosen him because he has kept up the band and school spirit and led them to many victories. We wouldn't be the same without his smile and witty jokes. Maestro Lesser graduated from Northwestern University, in Illinois, in 1948, with M.M. and B.M.E. degrees. We are proud to dedicate the annual to such a worthy and talented director. 5 Please Mrs. Foune, I'd rather do it myself. Superintendent MR. However with hard work and determination, the team opened the year by competing against our old rivals, St. Joe. Our Red and White out played the Bears most of the game, but were defeated. In the first game on our own gridiron, our great team beat Colma 14-2-13, and eventually succeeded in obtaining a 4-2-4 season record. Many activities kept the girls busy before the football games. Decorating goalposts, mak- ing posters, and taking part in pep rallies did not even begin to exhaust their pep and spirit. Enthusiastic cheerleaders attended all the games and continually kept up the spirit. Their vim and vigor urge the Frosh team to victory— Their lusty yells fill every silence— They are the Frosh Cheerleaders—those who have worked so that their enthusiasm might direct our cheers with precision and fervor. This is the first year of competitive wrestling for Lakeshore in the Blossomland Conference. Because of a lack of experience, the Lancer grapplers went into each match as the underdog. Nevertheless, with expert coaching the Lancers developed into some fine wrestlers. We are proud of your achievements and we wish you success in your future years of competition in the Blossomland Conference. Intramural The Intramural Basketball program consisted of two leagues—major and minor. The major league had six teams while the minor league had only four. The majority of players in the minor league were first year men. Accordingly, a player would be moved into the stronger league to strengthen the ball club. The Intramural Basketball League was an exciting one from start to finish. In fact, the final day of play ended with a three-way tie for first place! Following a drawing—Ohio (captained by Doug Nitz) defeated Michigan State (captained by Bill Griffis) with a score of 61-55. This victory gave Ohio the right to play Michigan (captained by Fred Zink) for the championship. The final score was Ohio 70—Michigan 52. Ohio was thus crowned Intramural Basketball Champion for 1964-65. 137 Conference Champs i Standing, I. to r.: Mr. Gitersonke, D. Nye, B. luttrell, B. Forrester, R. Both, M. Scheuchner, H. Frank, D. The Patrice Gaunder Fan Club started soon after Patrice won the Michigan contest. With the help of coke sales, bake sales, car washes and a drawing on a washing machine they earned a thousand dollars in four weeks! Leaving Michigan in a snow storm they arrived in Mobile 24 hours later in our bus to greet 70° weather. They saw Patrice win the poise and appearance trophy Thursday night and the title of America s Jr. Miss Friday night as they knew she would. After attending a reception following the contest they started home—tired but happy. 150 PATRONS Mr. Wayne Applebaum Sunday's Shop Mr. and Mrs. Sam Searfoss Van Osdal Insurance Mr. and Mrs. George Ball Gillespie's Drug Store Pet Giftland Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Geipel Modern Cleaners Dr. David J.
