Despite their 1-8 record, under the excellent coaching of Mr. Groth, they gained much experience and learned to work well as a team, even with the handicap of only two returning varsity players. Our main goal, said team captain, Vaughnetta g jenkins, was to achieve a positive mental attitude. The team chose juli Hughes, the most influen- tial team member in achieving this goal, as their most inspirational player of the 1982 volleyball season.

Golf Team Swings Their Stuff r. Nelson has coached the golf team to state tournaments every year since the opening of the school in 1963. This year, even with a young team that had less experience than some of the others in the league, he steered them to a third place standing in the league. Led by senior, Don Bodenhammer and junior, Mike Fosnick, they played in the state tournament with sixteen other teams in May. The highlight of their year was defeating Clover Park. The coach said, Our team will be a strong team next year because of the returning let- termen and the ninth graders who played this year. All looked forward to next year's season. New Coach Inspires Netters mhis year the girls' team had a new coach. Although Coach George Ghilar- ducci was new to girls' tennis, he was not new to tennis, since he had coached the boys' tennis team in previous years. Coach Ghilarducci said he thought the girls had a fine record for the season. The Varsity's record was 6-3 and the 1V's was 8-1. The Varsity consisted of four seniors and one sophomore, while the I V team consisted of one junior and five sophomores. Mr. Ghilarducci stated that the team had a lot of spirit and were very supportive of each other.
