Symphonic Band Has a Su er YeafeQr E his year the Symphonic band brought enthusiasm to the' Lancer crowds at football and basketball games. The band was led by Mr. Goss who was not only the conductor but also a member because he tried to teach in a relaxed at- mosphere. ,pw The Merr Mmstrels of Lakes Orchestra G he 1983 Lakes orchestra, directed by Mr. Alan Wilkie, showed great potential for perfor- ming quality music. Because the orchestra was small, all sections strove for perfection. Last year the orchestra travelled to Vancouver, British Columbia and Ferndale, Washington for the orchestra tour. The musicians were busy performing three concerts in two days which included a joint concert with Ferndale and Bell- ingham High Schools. Like last year, this year's musi- cians performed in many concerts displaying their musical talent. The highlight of this year was hosting the South Puget Sound League Orchestra Con test at Lakes. 1. Barbara jahns is proud to be a violist. 3. Laurie Donnelly concentrating deeply. 4. Duet by Rosemary johnson and Mika Shigeta. 5. Mika Shigeta fiddlin' hard. 6. john Spitzer, go for it. 8. Clarinetist, Deena Smith, Sandy Beauchamp, and Chris Gilo. H arsity band played at several concerts including the Christmas Concert. Directed by Mr. Goss, the musicians went to competitions and proved themselves to be talented.
