j. V. Ch eerstaff Looks Prom1s1n g E he junior Varsity Cheerstaff of 1982-83 consisted of jenny Culver, Esther Leon-Guererro, Surita Fields, and Desiree Diaz. The girls worked long and hard to show the enthusiastic Lakes spirit. The squad spent a lot of time and effort on various routines and did a fantastic job in suppor- ting the j. V. teams. The group was led by Mrs. Mathews and Mrs. Bratton who both help out in routines and transportation to games. The Cheerstaff found the job a rewarding experience. 1. Under a new advisor, Mrs. Lynn Schultz, the girls worked well together and showed much spirit and vitality. Co-captains Nancy Hinchcliffe and Patty jones provided leader- ship and inspiration for the team. The Homecoming performance celebrated Lakes' 20th anniversary with the themes of the past, the present, and the future. For each theme a group of girls created dance moves to a song representing that theme. For the past, the girls re-enacted the cavemen days to the song Tusk, Dressed in new wave, the se- cond set of girls danced to the sounds of Devo. The rest of the drill team dressed up in futuristic clothing and performed to a song called Home Computers. Senior drill team members choreagraphed an outstanding program to the song, Dancing in the Streets. The Senior march, which oc- cured at the last home basketball game, con- cluded a successful year for the seniors.
