Y X is Vswii Q d it S Hs. 'P ear wamp Counselors gained respect for the en- vironment as they learned to use it without abuse. Instilling their sixth grade charges with the same attitude, the counselors led songs, skits and campfires at Millersylvania. At Camp Easter Seal, they helped special education students on a one to one basis. Advisor, Mr. Hansen, took pride in the success and fine reputation of this year's counselors. F J E he Lakes Art Club every year offers a 5150.00 scholarship to seniors. These students present an artwork portfolio which is judged by various college professors. I.F.O. Welcomes Students Ehe International Friendship Organization once again fulfilled its purpose of making the foreign exchange students feel at home here at Lakes. Mrs. Rediske, the club advisor, said the club, originating several years ago, combined all the foreign language clubs to acquaint the foreign exchange students with Lakes. Any Lakes stu- dent interested in learning about world cultures was in- vited to join the club,' being fluent in a foreign language was not necessary. Following tradition, both Lakes and Clover Park IFO had a potluck dinner and then a Christmas party. Besides mingling with Clover Park, the foreign exchange students went to Decatur for the yearly student ex- change. The students were busy meeting other foreign exchange students, roller skating, and having a good time. A special event this year was visiting Mt. Rainier. Asked why, Mrs. Rediske said, One student said he'd never seen snow before so we decid- ed to go to Mt. Rainier to see some snow! Thus the goal of IFO, like the Crusades, to help the students to learn about other cultures, was accomplished.

Skiers Attack the Slopes mt. Bachelor, Stevens, and Sno- qualmie Passes were a few of the places the Lakes Ski Club traveled to by privately chartered buses this year. Fundraisers such as candy bar and raf- fle ticket sales helped to reduce the cost of the Mt. Bachelor weekend trip. Ski movies were also shown at lunch to promote enthusiasm. Membership this year was high, as was the spirit and ex- citement to ski. One president was elected from each lunch to represent the organization, Chris Senko and Mike Kerr. Mr. james Burton advised the group in another successful year of skiing. ast success inspired this year's Math a Team to even greater heights in its fourth year of competition. Mrs. Max- ell advised the team and guided their preparation for the Atlantic Pacific League Competition and the state finals. Before go- ing to the two big con- tests, students practiced in school competitions. The team consisted of three seniors, three juniors, and two sophomores. After each e player worked on in- dividual problems, the players then cooperated to a work on a team problem. These experiences con- tinued to challenge and m enhance the math exper- tise of the team. Mr. james Burton. 2. Mrs. MaryMaxwell 48
