The Mem or1 es of a Pr1n cess E he theme for this year's Daffodil selec- tion, Golden Memories, will certain- ly prove true for Patty Hunter, Kathy Genske, Denise Rigell, and Wendy Werner, but especially for Laura Amblad. The contestants competed on the basis of their charm, poise, overall appearance, the answers they gave to certain im- promptu questions, and the content of their speeches. Laura used a poem by Robert Frost for her oration. Years from now, when Laura opens up her yearbook and sees pictures from the night of November 14, she will again feel the emotion she felt that night, a dash of pride, not enough, however, to overcome her innate modesty and overwhelming joy. Even the voices of the Barber Shop Quartet will come back to her. Said Laura of the even t, I felt so excited and surpris- ed when they first said my name. After the shock of being chosen had worn off I felt honored because all of the candidates were really well qualified. All my life I've seen people being chosen for things like this and now it's happened to me! Adding, It's like a dream come true. This evening will truly be one of her most special golden memories. 30
