Business Classes Boom B espite cutbacks in other departments, the business depart- ment thrived. The Co- operative Office Educa- tion program, COE, placed students in of- fices working as secretaries and book- keepers. Many of these jobs paid immediately, while others promised full-time jobs after graduation. It was one program that enabled students to go right into the workforce. Although the program started just last year, it has been working very efficiently. The depart- ment also received new equipment. Three new word processors were bought for the depart- ment. The word pro- cessor will someday prove to be indispensi- ble to the business world. just as different orders of monasticism arose and disappeared, the business depart- ment seemed to be blooming in the midst of cut-backs.
