Coached by Mr. Ron Growth, the girls grew together as the season progress- ed. They were a quick team although they lacked height. Debbie Goad led the team in spirit as captain. Girls' Varsity Gains Experience E he girls' Varsity basketball team began their season with high hopes. The team had many individual players, and therefore it took a while to come together as a team. The girls'record of two wins and sixteen losses did not show their ability. After losing sixteen con- secutive games, the lady Lancers rebounded to win their final two games, against Bethel and Sumner. Captain Karen Haddock said, You don't have to have a winning record to have a winning season. It wasn't a waste of time because even though we lost, we learned a lot. Coach Al Nurse said, We had a growing season. W? if l bk . New Coach Brings Winning Season VARSITY Row one: Dave Delgado, Ryan Malcolm, Gerald Brown, Tony Miranda, Len Mitchell, john Senna, Neal Stewart Row two: Gary Roberts, Dan Talbot, Mark Freeman, Dan Caswell, Brad Haag, jeff Brateng Row Three: Alice Hall, Richard Zatkovich 100 E he Varsity Wrestling Team wil always remember their victoriouj 1982-1983 season. It was a rough year for league competition, with a 5- record, but ended with 9-5 standin record for the season. There was some outstanding individual work done by Dan Caswell, Mark Freeman, and Tony Miranda throughout the season. In ad- dition to this Mark and Tony wrestleo at regionals. It was a very enjoyabl year of coaching here at Lakes, sai coach Dick Zatkovich. Both coach ana team will look back in fon rememberance of their successful yea of competition.
