The most challenging and active service club at Lakes is the Key Club. It is sponsored by the Lakewood Kiwanis Club and is made up of selected boys from all three classes, Throughout the year these dedicated boys have served the community. Their annual canned-food collecting project was held to help needy families around the Lakewood area for Christmas. They also volunteered their time to work on Wednesdays at Western State Hospital. Delegates of the club, Steve Bowman, Dwight Williams, Dale Tomasch, Charlie Croasdill, Steve Brown, Tom McLaughlin, Bob Seeley, and Garry Sobeck attended the Key Club Convention in Miami last summer. Each Monday throughout the year, two representatives were guests of the Lakewood Kiwanis Club at their regular meetings.
