Robinson The purpose of the Afro-American Ciub is to get the black students of Lakes involved in discovering their heritage. By request of the club, a shelf in the library was set apart for black literature. Bulletin boards, commemorating Martin Luther King, were put up around the school. During the week of February 8-14, which was designated as National Afro-American Week, club members put on a fashion show in which students modeled the African fashions they had made. Although this club was newly organized this year, it has given Blacks a chance to explore their heritage and has helped make the entire student body at Lakes more aware of it. Rochelle Henderson models one of the many Afro- American outfits seen at the fashion show. evmwe Brenda Bagley, Dena Williams, Beverly Appling, Debra Wilson, Linda Joseph, Rhonda Leigh Lewis and Darrell Dahl admire Jacki Aldrigeis African garb Randle, Sheila Crisp, and Lola Nelson perform in the fashion show presented during Afro- worn for Afro-American Week.
