The wrestling season was a very successful one despite the limited number of boys who turned out. The overall record consisted of 7 wins and 6 losses The league record consisted of 5 wins against 3 losses. These 3 losses were very close with 6 points being the greatest margin of defeat for the Lancers. The greatest accomplishment of the team 'was the winning of the league tournament in Auburn. Lakes emerged with four champions: 2 second-place finishers, 1 third-place, and 1 fourth-place winner. In the Regionals held in Puyallup, the team proved powerful in competition ending up in a tie for second place, the highest ever in the history of Lakes wrestling. The State Tournament provided exciting action and successful wrestling. Bill Perkins captured the State Championship in his weight class, Steve Carries took third and Mike Motko and Leigh Lewis tied for fifth place; With these victories, the team placed 8th in the State. Steve Babbit drives for a takedown. WRESTLERS FINISH Jim Scott attempts to put a half-nelson on his C.P. opponent. Leigh Lewis watches the clock. Steve Carries works for a guillotine. The team exuberantly cheers Art Weaveris victory.
