Knowledge is partially gained through experiences. One of Man's greatest assets is the ability to communicate and help others. The service clubs have shown these characteristics through their service to Lakes and to the community. The Red Cross Club has been involved in sending supplies to the school in India. They have also made life brighter forthe patients of Madigan by their visits. Stimulation of the mind is one of Chess Clubs greatest Achievements. Even though their service is not outward, the experiences gained through each match will help shape each individual. Deca, in conjunction with their studies of Modern Marketing, has operated the book store. During the year, they attended a conference in Yakima and businesses in the area. The library has often been considered a Book of Knowledge . The library assistants have created this atmosphere of learning through efficiency, dependability, and aid. Each club has contributed services to Lakes. During this time of helping others, every member has gained valuable knowledge through these experiences. VOLU TEENS NCGURAGI The Volunteen program at Lakes is designed for social rehabilitation. The students who volunteer their time at Western State Hospital devote several hours each week to working with the patients, and preparing them for active community life. Mrs. Voelker, assisted by Mrs. Duras, is the present advisor for the organization. The officers are Belinda Woodlief, President, Karen McGlashan, Vice President, and Vicki Atchison, Secretary-Historian. This work has proved to be a rewarding challenge to those who have participated in it.
