'AAII the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts. His acts being seven ages. A Thespian is exemplified by this familiar quotation from the works of William Shakespeare. Lakes Thespian Troupe No. 2400 functioned actively this year. Under the direction of Mr. James Snyder, they attended the State Thespian Conference in Ellensburg, Washington, November 9-10 with its sister troupe from Clover Park. There they presented several interesting speakers and held a number of workshops on make-up, lighting, etc. For Artasia, they presented a one-act play, The Mystery of Mouldy Manor, starring only senior Thespians. Thespian Apprentices ushered and checked hats at Lakewood Player productions to earn points toward full- fledged Thespian status. Every Member of the Drama Club under the title of Thespian has truly worked for and is deserving of the title. These young men and women have proved William Shakespeare's quotation. CHRISTMA BOUTIQUE BIG SUCCESS X.-f Mrs. Moomaugh ponders over the different types of wall plaques. Mrs. Johnson had a satisfying day at the Christmas Boutique. Sylvia Anderson and Brenda Parr examine items for sale at the Boutique. The Lakes Christmas Boutique was held in order for high school students to see the problems and satisfaction involved in making and selling items for a profit. The money gained from the Boutique was used for three scholarships of S100 each for an art student, and a boy and girl going into Vocational Training after graduation. Items made in Art, Industrial Arts, Graphic Arts, Special Education and Home Economics classes were sold at the Boutique to the Lakes High School family , that is, students, parents, teachers and friends. Sold at the Boutique were small fruit cakes, metal dinner bells, stuffed toys, original art work, candles, candle holders and many other items. The financial goal of the sales was set at S300 but it was so successful that they came up with a grand total of S385.05. E Gayle Brown and Scott McKee enjoy the many displays.
