Senior Histor We, the Class of 1958, being the first graduating students to attend classes here as fresh men, look back with pride upon our Golden Age at Lakeland We have gained numerous friendships, assumed many responsibilities, and have reached the goal we set out for in Sep tember four short years ago These experiences, which have been so much a part of our lives, bring back many a fond memory, as we think of the time our Golden Age began at Lakeland Entering our freshman year, we were new and so was our school We were ready to grow up together, and it was at thls tlme that our very capable instructors undertook the arduous task of teaching us all the knowledge we have absorbed from that time to the present Mem itial success In searching for something different, we decided to sponsor a dance contest, and further reminiscing recalls to mind our movle-dance Lost Horizon Our sophomore year brought more fun with the Vice Versa Dance and continued with The Best Foot Forward Dance when the price of admission was determined by the size of our feet We were then eager to begin our junior year In reaching our gunlor year, we realized that we were at the midpoint of our high school education and now that we were getting older, we began to think of the future We started planning for college and work The excitement of our pending Jumor Prom elated us and gave us something more to look forward to The prom was a dreamland of streamers, palm trees, plneapples, and our lovely queen was Jane Phillips Our next thrill was the arrival of our class rmgs How proud we werel Before we knew rt, our senior year was upon us ln our senior year we were confronted with the fact that we were finally at the peak of our high school career Here we pride ourselves with another first The Class of 1958 was the first senior class to present senior class plays Under the expert direction of Mrs Flora B Nelson, we presented two plays, Footfalls and The Plum Tree, with the leadlng roles played by Ronald Young and Judy Nissim We also loined together in a Senior Play Day when we went to New York City and saw Around The World In 80 Days We dined, to gether, laughed together, and grew up a little more together After thls, we planned for the most memorable part of our senior year, the Senior Prom December 7 was the date set for our Winter Wonderland which featured o setting of evergreen trees, snow crystals and a magical rustic sleigh. The setting was outdone only by the queen, Joan Flanders. Tuck- ing our senior cards in our pockets and adjusting our senior hats on our heads, we looked at the tickets for our Washington Trip. What memories of thatl We heartily thank Mr. Brech for making our trip a success. Now as commencement approaches, the memories of our years ln Lakeland make everlast ing impressions in our minds. With something to remember and something to hope for, we can approach our future with confidence and ease. So as our Golden Age at Lakeland comes to an end the Class of i958 leave hearts within its walls as we enter the Golden Age of Life. We would like to thank our class advisors, Mrs. Kennedy, Mr. Lockhart, and Mr. Engel- son, for without their help we would not have accomplished what we did throughout our high school years. We would also like to give a special thank you to Mrs. Salustri for her help in planning the Junior Prom and so many other things. With the experiences obtained at Lake land, and the helping hand of God, the Class of i958 will see success in its future and will not disappoint its advlsors.
