Through readings, discussions, proiects and field trips, the Conservation Club tries to develop a better understand- ing of our local natural en- vironment. lt coordinates its activities with the Nat-I uralist Workshop of Shrub Oak and receives assistance and advice from the Con- servation Department. A bird feeding station is main- tained behind the school, and, to further improve the area wildlife, i000 white pine seedlings have been or- dered from the Conservation Department to be placed on the school grounds. Their mem- bers took part in an assem- bly program, entertained French visitors at their meetings, visited the U- nited Nations, attended a concert given by a French operatic singer and have in store, the prospects of a visit to a French ship. The name of the Spanish Newspa- per is El Avispon-lThe Hornetl. It is a quarterly publication, produced by the members of the Spanish Ill Class. All members contribute news items. We have been trying to ef- fect an exchange with other schools in this section publishing a Spanish paper. So far, no luck.
