' fr x WWW .r N Tennyson's words, The old order changeth yielding place to new, we express the theme, The Old and the New, of the T955 yearbook, TERRA LACUS. ln thinking ofthe old, we can go as far back in history as the time of the three R's, or we can go back to last year to our old schools, Shrub Oak, Toddville, VanCortlandville, Peekskill, and others. No matter how far in time we regress, we find change for the better, ever present in the progress of America's schools. This progression con- tinues, bringing us to the present, the New, re re- sented by our school, Lakeland High School with its rating of the best in modern education. The old order does change, and the New takes its place - throughout our yearbook. 2 EEE IZEJEIEJ O g .S N appreciation of the tireless efforts of the members of the Board of Education in conceiving and bringing to fruition the beautiful Lakeland High School, we hereby dedicate to them the first publication of TERRA LACUS. Through their vision and progressive leader- ship, they have given to us a school that is second to none in modern convenience and comfort. This has created within us a sense of deep pride and roused us to greater efforts. These factors should goa long way in producing better students and better citizens. The members of the Board of Education merit our deepest gratitude and the thanks of the entire community. SEATED AROUND THE TABLE Mr John L Davxes, Mr. Clarence MacNei11, Mr. Benjamin C. Our administrators, always keeping the best interests of the students at heart, have provided for us a worth- while school program which encour- ages the students to achieve success in work and play. With such a pro- gram and efficient leadership, Lake- land High School is well on her way to becoming one of Westchester's leading high schools.
