These are a part of MR. HARRY HATCHERS background, as are degrees from the University of Tennessee and Peabody College. He teaches English 3. MR. GEORGE JOHNSON, who teaches world geography and math, is a native of Brier Hill. Pennsylvania. His leisure hours are spent tinkering in his workshop or amusing his baby daughter. Georgia. In the new building he hopes to see lounges provided for the teachers and for the students to use in their free moments. It is hard to believe that MISS EUNICE KEEN. bustling about the library in her customary brisk manner, has been L,H.S. librarian for sixteen years. Any student who asks her for help will find that his needs become her primary concern, and she will not stop until the deed has been accomplished. Despite her associations with all 1700 of them. Miss Keen likes best about her job her contacts with the students. MISS REBECCA KEITH is back at L.H.S. after taking a year's leave of absence to obtain her M.A. degree at F.S.L'. Teaching American history leaves her little time for her hobby, reading. To Miss Keith. the ideal student is loyal to his school and all its activities, an enthusiastic participant in several things, working to the best of his ability in the classroom. A rather peculiar combination of subjects-typewriting, office practice and Bible-keeps MRS. EULA LASTINGER leaping from one train of thought to another. Almost the entire school de- pends upon the fine secretarial work done by her office practice class where the work is not only under Mrs. Lastinger's direction, but much of the actual doing is by her. Two sons keep her busy outside of school. Advisor to the S.G.A. has assumed an important role in MR. WILLIAM LAWRENCES routine. Teaching four classes of health education leaves him scarcely enough time to cope with the many problems that an active S.G.A. presents. Travel, baseball, his young daughter, meteorology-these are among Mr.,Lawrence's favorites

LOIS DRAKE maintains an air of calm assurance despite the distracting clangor of thirty-two typewriters. Mrs. Drake holds a BS, degree in commerce and teaches shorthand as well as typewriting. Her personal requirement for the new building is a huge. cool typing room, One who is cooperative. friendly, conscientious. with a nice sense of humor is MISS FRANCES FURLOWVS definition of an ideal student. Oddly enough. her students would give the same defini- tion of Miss Furlow. Although this is her first year of teaching, she did her interne work at L.H.S. under the supervision of Miss Young last year. She is teaching Latin and Caesar A deep sincere interest in children. reading and dramatics dominates most of MISS HAZEI, HALEYS activities, Students in her speech and Senior English classes finally hetome accustomed to hearing themselves referred to as children, Miss Haley regards her work as adxisor to the Highlander staff as a most challenging but rewarding task. MR. VERNON HALL. who teaches bookkeeping. typewxriting. and hustrtess English lists Auhurn- dale.
