I'm a most rare and wonderful spirit with a truly imposing name. You see, I'm the Spirit of Lakeland High School. It's funny I've never had a nickname, but l've meant so many fine things to so many people over the years that it just never was suitable to be friv- olous about me. This is a very special year to me. probably the most important one of my whole life. It frightens me to realize that this is the last year I shall live in this old building that has been my home for twenty-six marvel- ous years. Next year l shall be in a brand-new, shiny-sparkling building, and I may not like it at all. It will be my home, though, and I shall stand for the same high ideals there that I've always upheld here. Cant you see, then, what an important HIGHLANDER this is? It must be a complete and enduring record of this, my final year. May it mean as much to you as it does to me. V
