VICE- PRINCIPAL D. H. BOTLY It seems but yesterday that you, the students of 1968-69, began your training in the profession of teaching, and, indeed, the time has been all too short. I know that you realize that in a one-year course, it is just not possible to become a fully competent, first-rate teacher. However, if you have begun to develop a philosophy of education, if you have discerned the qualities in yourself that are most likely to benefit the pupils who will be in your charge, if you have come to recognize characteristics within you that may be detrimental in your classroom if not corrected or subdued, if you have learned some basic principles of teaching and of learning, then you may be on the road to a rewarding career. It has been a pleasure to work with the class of '69 and I say this with all sincerity. I wish you happiness and success in the years ahead. DEA OF WO E A. M. McKENZIE One of your major responsibilities as a teacher is to be aware of the Worth of every individual in your care. Such recognition will affect not only the day by day treatment of your charges but also your long range hopes for their future. You must recognize the challenge of preparing them to find their place in the world of work. Strive to give them a sound foundation of knowledge and skills as you attempt to lead them towards a super- structure of searching and constructive thinking. Along with this, aim constantly at developing an attitude of adaptability to prepare them to fit into a world of innovation and change. Such a background will enable your pupils to earn their share of the material things of this world which make it possible for rnan to live with dignity. Remember, however, that you cannot dignify that which is not worthy of honour. Your efforts will have been in vain unless you can instill in your pupils the fundamental spiritual qualities which can ennoble an entire society. Such values cannot be taught - they can only be caught. I can give you no greater wish than this - that you find them first in yourself and then let them permeate all your work.

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE WILLIAM A. WEST Your year at the college has been a major crossroad in which you have set directions for your future. My earnest hope is that your decision will prove right both for yourself and for the society you will serve. As a staff we are going to expect great things of you because of the fine promise you have shown. Your many indications of maturity, sense of responsibility, and balance indicate that you should be able to make a rich contribution to the growth and welfare of others. Although we hope that you will look back upon this year as one of the richest in your experience, we trust too that you will not consider it the final preparation for the work you are to undertake. To keep up to our changing world you must never stand still academically or professionally We hope you will continue to be aware that many ideas are being questioned today - and rightly so. However, look for a foundation of fundamental truths rather than supporting change for the sake of change alone. Be prepared to stand up for a principle that is worth defending, but let the size of the issue be your guide. May you enjoy in the future all the success and happiness which you truly deserve.
