The 1970 Engineering Conference was attended by four members of the E.S.S. The delegates were Paul Drobrocky, Lawerence Larsen, Rick Randall and Andy Saj. They returned to L. U. bringing with them all the ideas and recommendations that were put forward by all those participating, and they proceeded to put many of them to the test. Quite successfully too. Lakehead Engineers were well represented by these students and should be congratulated on their contribution to the Society.

i was glad to see the ' DEEP PURPLE 1 get on its feet this year as the Engineering weekly. The past year has witnessed the drive and enthusiasm of the Engineering Students ' Society which set the pace for the University. I believe a communication media such as is vital in maintaining this momentum. With a good, solid man such as Ted at the helm, expect bigger and better things for ' 7 1 - ' 7 2 . The conference at Queen ' s University witnessed five L.U. delegates lead the way in discussion. Favourable comment was received from those participating and observing of the contribution from the delegates. Congrats and thanks to Ozzie, Skip, Harry, Marcus and, of course, Doug Johnston. The 1971 Canadian Congress of Engineering Students Conference, held in Ottawa at the Universities of Ottawa and Carleiton, was attended by Bill Dann and Harry Jaako. The theme this year was Transportation and was extremely informative. The chance to meet and become friends with Engineering Students from other universities was, alone, worth the trip. Next year the conference will be held at the University of New Brunswick.
