OVCWOY Lake View High School, being the center of a growing and thriv- ing community, has contributed greatly to the spiritual, commer- cial, industrial, and educational development of the area. It is Lake View's duty and privilege to foster such ideals through its policies, its activities, and its relations with the community and its leaders. Spiritual training plays an important role in the growth. of a community and the individuals who reside within its bounds. Lake View's churches and synagogues are not only centers of religious instruction, they are also the centers of community projects, vari- ous activities, and suitable entertainment facilities. The religious organizations, through their teaching, create an inner strength which is typified by strong character, good morals, and an intelli- gent set of values which are necessary qualities of the mature and valuable citizen. The commercial and industrial aspects of the Lake View region are interdependent. The industries ol our district produce the ne- cessary commodities for the community's economy. These products are then made available to the general public through the com- mercial interests. The Lincoln-Belmont shopping center is one of the largest centers of this kind in the city ol Chicago. Such com- mercial developments are necessary for the continued prosperity and growth of our llourishing region. The education ol' our youth is the paramount objective and re- sponsibility of our school. Lake View High School is truly the heart ol the community, for the young people who pass through its port- als are the homemakers, the workers, the businessmen, the leaders, and the builders of a greater and more eminent Lake View. The Red and TVhite stall' ol 1957 hopes that this annual will bring about a greater appreciation ol our connnunity and the wonderful opportunities and potentialities embodied by our thriving Lake View district.
