adagusfmenf fjzroug ncouragemenf 4941401 Qlniolance The Adjustment Department is always willing to render its services and g'uidanc'e to the students ol' Lake View. Problems ol' all types arise among the students. XVhether these problems concern our home life, or perhaps some sort ol' dillirultv we may he having' in school, Miss Kreis and her ellicient stall' ol' teachers give their most considerate attention to the matter. 'I'he philosophy which motivates the ,Xdjnstment Department relates to the heliel that every student is entitled to a program that is tailored to his individual needs. The guidance stall plans all lreshmen programs in the elementary SA flasses. It also assists teachers and students at Lake View with t'tirrit't1lar planning. 'I'hose interested in oh- taining' a position may dis '- cuss their octttpational plans with the placement fotinselor, Miss Creiner. VIVVICZVLV MVPOSG if 54 SCAOOI liighty years have seen a great change in the course ol' study of- lered at Lake View. XVhen the school was lirst established in IS74, the prospective student was not able to choose lrom courses in busi- ness training, art, music, home economics, and other specialized subjects, such as are lound in the curricula today. Lake View was primarily a college preparatory school, as were all high schools of those days, and did not deviate lroni the strictly prescribed course of study required by the institu- tions ol higher learning . There has been a great increase in high school enrollment, and, while many ol' our graduates go on to college, a great percentage ol' them enter directly into the business world. Thus we lind in the curricula such courses as l'il6lIlCllI2ll'V Business Training, Conlptometry, Clerical Practice, and Industrial Arts. Lake View can well be proud ol' its loyal sons and daughters , lor, whether they go on to lurther their educa- tion in the colleges and universities ol' the llnited States, or, talce their places in the field ol' business, they will be well-prepared, thanks to the well-rounded and varied course of study ollered to theni. The next section ol our annual is devoted to the various depart- ments which combine to give Lake View one ol' the linest educational programs to be lound in the sec- ondary school system ol today.
