N atmosphere of warmth and festivity pervades the gym. Mellow sun- light streams through its latticed windows into its dim interior casting patches of light upon tables decorated in gleaming white and brilliant red. Soon the chairs are occupied by Red and Whiters and their guests. Eollow- ing the first course the Senior Service Girls come quietly forward in their spot- less jackets bearing trays of piping hot chicken a la king. Another of the many interesting tasks allotted to the Senior Service Girls moves forward all too quickly into pleasant memory. It is the afternoon of the P.-T. A. tea. The girls assemble in the lunch room to receive instructions concerning their duties. The room, redolent with the aroma of tea and coffee, iills with parents and teachers. Once more the white-vested girls move smilingly among the guests refilling empty cups or serving cake. When the last guest has departed the girls are invited to partake of the remaining refreshments. As a climax, the crowning point of .1 Senior Service Girl's career is the opportunity to usher at the graduation exercises. At a specified hour the girls, immaculate as ever, gather in the R. O. T. C. room where they receive the programs which are to be distributed to those attending the graduation. Half an hour before the ceremony begins the girls are found in pairs at the various entrances to the auditorium busily engaged in answering inquiries and in handing out programs. Presently silence steals over the hall. Slowly and reverently the graduates march to their seats to the solemn strains of music. The last late comer is seated and the girls are free to devote the rest of the eve- ning to witnessing the awe inspiring proceedings. Thus the Senior Service Girl fulfills her last task with a feeling of pride and enjoyment. Q S., Page I Z 1

Yea, Jansen. Commission Assembly! Candidates for the commission spend a sleepless night worrying over their minute speeches. The day has arrived! The stu- dents vote by secret ballot during the division period for three boys and three girls. Xvhile the ballots are being cast let us divert our attention from the election of the candidates to the purpose of the student commission. Since 1914 with the exception of two years the commission form of student government has been in operation at Lake View. All commissioners must be seniors and must have a G average. The boy or girl having the greatest num- ber of votes is the president. The vice-president and secretary, the treasurer, and the two on the social committee have the next highest number of votes. respectively. The commission meets every Monday. These meetings are held to plan school improvements which can be carried out with the aid of the student body, to organize school dances, and to help promote various activities and projects, such as, concerts, senior dramas, the annual operetta, and this year the Music Festival. The commission also sponsors all charitable endeavors and attends to any business which falls within its jurisdiction. Flash! Latest election returns. Attention everybody! AIM! FIRE! were tense with waiting. A quiet settled as the marksmen aligned their sights with the targets. Beads of perspiration formed on their foreheads. Squeeze the trigger, no flinching, no jerking. Good, the first shot was in the center of the bull. And so they fired in four positions: prone, sitting, kneeling, and standing. For two days from 2:30 to 6:30 they peppered the black circles. Suspense for two more days to lind out how the other schools lired. The results: Lake View, the champions of Chicago in the Sixth Corps Area Matches. tiring .1 score of 3.347 points of out a possible 4,000. The individual scores were: Hillner, 357g Oekert, 346: Skinder, 345g Hartman, 3383 Clements, 334: Mills 333: Rogers, 328: Sanguras, 3571 Harris, 322. On March 17 and 18 the rifle team composed of five men iired the Hearst Trophy Matches. They made 850 out of a possible 1,000 points. The scores follow: Mills, 170, Hellner, 1793 Skinder, 1703 Oekert, 1913 Hartman, 160.
