I HS Initiates 7 Members On May 2, seven students were initiated into the National Honor Society. New members were; Seniors: Phillip Maynard and Joyce Kroeger, Juniors; Cheryl Phil- lips, Susan Blessington, and Julie Smidt, and probationary members; Paul Fyfe and Cariotta Letzring. Active members: First Row: Connie Hospelhom, Mary Pat Ferguson, and Sandy Fredrichs. Second Row: Kevin Kelly, Allen Rohde, and Dave Nichols. Also joining this year's membership were the pro- bationary members of last year: Allen Rohde and Dave Nichols. Refreshments were served to the parents and mem- bers of the National Honor Society. The FFA officers spent several days at the Leadership Conference near Ingham Lake, Iowa. A Stairway To the Stars The members of the Speech and Drama De- partment enjoyed a rewarding and creative year un- der the direction of Mrs. Evonne Deur. Their activities began with the all-school play, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Novem- ber 12 and 13. Rehearsals next were for District large group speech contest entries held in January. They received I ratings for the one act play. Reader's theatre and Choral Reading. The play, I'm a Fool received a I rating at State Large Group Contest in February. Meanwhile students were preparing for indi- vidual events. Fifteen students received certification to appear at the State contest in March. Six I ratings were received at State Individual Events. The year's activities were concluded in May with a Children's Theatre presentation of Wizard of OZ .
