The Student Coun- cil promoted better school spirit and relationship between the stu- dents and the faculty. During the year the Student Council attended the District Workshop at Sioux City and the State Student Council Convention at Iowa City. The Student Council tried to adopt a school dress code and worked on clean up tasks around the school. Although a small group, the Student Council accomplished a lot. This year the LVA Library Club has the distinction of having every one of its members serve as student assistants in the High School library. To promote library interest, the bulletin board was decorated and displays were made by the club members. The Booster Staff consisted of fifteen members with Mike Kelly as editor. All members remained active throughout the year. The staff published the paper weekly and carried an extensive exchange program with other schools, not only in Iowa but in other states as well. The pro- gram consisted on the club's annual initiation of the French I mem- bers. The new members had to provide a few things for the French II members to complete their initiation. The election of officers com- pleted the meeting. Mrs. Hunter furnished lunch at the end of the meeting which was welcomed by each member. The students also got a treat this year in school when they had the extra advantage of a student teacher. It was an original play written especially for the students of Lake View-Auburn. There were seventeen new members initiated this year. Speech contest work and a bill of one act plays comprised the work for the Thespians. TRACK FRONT ROW: John Debner, Eugene Heun, Steve Garrels, Steve Rice, Bruce Stone, Steve Christian, Doug Frank, Ray Bruening, Gary Beck- man, Mr. Anderson. MIDDLE ROW: Craig Wicker, Robert Walrod, Tom Boje, Steve Debner, Evan Gantz, George Mohrhauser, Tim Kelly, Lynn Cleveland, Mike Schoneboom. The 1965 track squad was in a rebuilding year and never won any meets although they scored points in several. Ray Bruening was the high point-getter scoring in each meet that he was entered and qualify- ing for the State Track Meet at Ames. Improvement was made in many areas and next year's team should be well stocked with experienced personnel. A young team this year should prove their efforts for a coming year worthwhile. All home matches for the Lake View-Auburn teams were played at the Spring Lake Golf and Country Club. The boys' team journeyed to Harlan to play in the Sectional Tournament and our girls' team play- ed at Denison in District .competition. Individual honors were as fol- lows: Rosemary Johnson was medalist at each of the four dual meets, Dennis Holdcroft was medalist April 19, and Greg Onstot was runner- up medalist in dual competition on May 12 and May 21 and was runner- up medalist at the Sac County Invitational Meet.
