O TH BY MO TH September found the halls of our beloved institu- tion buzzing with excitement. The bell rang. . . home rooms were arranged. . . books were rented. . . class- rooms rocked with mental activity. . .the pep rallies offered a Rah, Rah, Rah, for the home team.. . the band played. . .the cheerleaders shouted them- selves hoarse. . .the team played and the 1959-60 school session was in full swing. October placed autumn in full command of the situation. Six weeks tests offered a challenge to the young minds. The spirit of homecoming reached its climax as the queen was crowned. The first holidays were welcomed in November. Football season gave way to basketball as the hard- wood court prospects began to get in shape for com- ing encotmters with their opponents. Students and teachers alike looked forward to the long Christmas vacation. Seniors labored hard in preparation for the annual Christmas dance, the annual staff spent many hours to meet their Decem- ber deadline. The glee club, dressed in their im- pressive robes, inspired their audiences with their December performances. Some good things end, including vacation. With Christmas gone and the arrival of a new year, at- tention was turned toward semester examinations. The flu bug played havoc with teachers and students February brought the basketball season to its cli- max with the district tournament held in Aynor. As March blew in, many Lake View girls built up hopes for the annual Miss Lake View Contest. lt's one -two-three and you're out at the 'ole' ball- game. The sound of the crack of the bat helped spread baseball fever through the Lake View student body. April found Juniors giving their devoted attention to the junior Play. Seniors looked forward to being entertained by the Juniors at the Junior-Senior Ban- quet. That wonderful month of May finally arrived. Seniors were really tops. This had been their year and May was their month. They were honored by Juniors, the senior boys were entertained by the Lions Club. Their edition of the Viewpoint returns in com- pletion. They presented their play. . .prepared for class night. . .listened intently to the speaker of the commencement sermon and saw their long sought goals become a reality as they marched down the aisle to receive their diplomas.
