MARCHI G BA D The Lake View High School March- ing Band, under the direction of Mr Wade I-I. Townsend, moved on to greater achievement and recognition this year. In addition to the grand performances at football games, both at home and away, the band enlivened pep meetings, played for assembly, participated in several Christmas pa- rades, presented a spring concert, and attended band day at the University of South Carolina. Band rehearsals were held every afternoon from 2:10 until 3:00 and for special occasions night rehearsals were held. This past summer, the majorettes attended the baton clinic held at Dillon, under the direction of Miss Judy Penland. The marching band won a trophy at the Florence County Fair for the best performance ofthe Class C Bands, Page Fifty-Four
