Training for cross country ran from late August through November. During the early part of the season the cross country team ran 20 to 25 miles a week. By mid-season they were running 40 to 45 miles a week with a mixture of distances and interval work. This was their peak for the season. The girls' team, 9th in the Lakewood Invitational, placed 7th in the league and was 14th in the district. The boys ran 6th in the Lakewood Invitational with nine other teams, placed 6th in the league, and was 7th in the district. The top runners for the year were Bill Anderson, Carl Gort, and Angie Adkins. 23
