GOOD-BYE PINK PALACE As I wander through the halls Of this majestic, pink palace; Everywhere I chance to look, I know each passing face. Though all the walls are crumbling And the paint is peeling away, The radiators groan and grumble, Still, it grows more dear each day. I feel the memories of yesterdays Come drifting back to me; They take me back to all those times And days so dear to me. Sure, we had our troubles, But the days were filled with fun. We laughed and cried together Through the days of rain and sun. But, alas, the end is drawing near And our school days will be past; Though they tear down all the buildings, Our memories will last . . . —Heidi Pigors 2 MIKE BENNETT MIKE BRIGNONE CLAUDIA BROWN DARWIN BURNS A STEVE BROYLES 3 WAYNE BROWNING TAMMY BURGHDUFF KIM CHASE CHERYL CLARK ANN CARTER ROBERT CADLE JULIE CHAMBERLAIN o KAREN CHRISTENSEN CRAIG CHAPMAN SALLY COLLINS 4 MELODY COLBERT MORRINE CRAWFORD JULIE NELSON KIM NICKERSON J MARK REN N 13 BRIAN REN RON RHODES ERIN SLADE BRAD SORENSEN 14 SENIORS NOT PICTURED MARK ANDERSON JEFF BERG DEVONA BOGART BRIAN BUNCH CHRISTINE DICEY KELLY DUBEAU JAMES DYER KERRY FORD SCOTT HACKWORTH TOM HAMPTON DARREN HUMBLE CURTIS IFFRIG PATTY IVERSON DEBBIE JAMES BRUCE JELLISON MICHAEL JONES ROD LOVE SHELLEY LOVE MICHAEL MURPHY PENNY PARKER JEFFERY RAFFERTY GREY ROBINSON RON SHINNER ERNIE THOMPSON MICHAEL WHALEY CLINTON WHITE 16 $ k? } JWJ[ fa , a ■ k V L % , pjrtjLri £$Am PP h j it juyjfit V ,a r 7%.,- f Vi X r !fc (V5 r. . f y 9 fA. . , i J Uo,.(tr {$ A 1 A .-w, .JOr ,f wf V 'fv ; ’ ( fi X t I J f f L , fr • , • r XX ji Vvy i F P 1. At the beginning of the season, Mr. Chaffee's hopes for his team were to finish in the middle of the league. His team overdid it a little. The guys did well through the season, working toward League and District. In League, Todd Posey took 8th, with his opponents way behind. In District, Todd took 4th (qualifying him for state) and Scott Buckner finished 20th and helped the team to a better-than- expected season. 71 F E M A L E S F R G E A H E A D This was the first year for Girls' Cross-Country. Mr. Chaffee was just glad to have girls turn out, but he didn't really think he would have such an excellent group of runners. The girls started the season with surprising performances. They took third place out of eight teams in County and District, almost sending the team to State. Mr. Chaffee has a lot to look forward to with such a young team. 72 73 T E N N I S B U M S Many losses didn't faze the girls spirits this year in tennis. They kept plugging those tennis balls over the net with a new surge of spirit in every game. In subdivisions, Lake took third out of eight teams. Mary Nordin and Mary Stringer both placed first in singles. In doubles, Barb Gall and Anna Hoffman placed first, Cathy McMahan and Laura Jacobson placed seventh. Mary Nordin bounced her way into the district competition. She placed fourth, and the team placed fifth out of nine teams. A W A R D S 97 VOCATIONAL Hard at work. 98 EDUCATION New skills were learned this year by a group of students who participated in taking courses at the Sno-Isle Skill Center near Boeing Airport in Everett. These programs were set up to enable those who wanted a chance to learn specific skills, and possibly gain employment after graduation. Christmas this year was also a good time for students to make crafts, money, and at the same time, support their favorite clubs. The Vocational Students Arts and Crafts Fair is to become an annual event. Here at school we have vocational workers in the cafeteria preparing lunches and doing other related services. Metal and wood shops are teaching techniques and many skills which involve working with metals and woods. Other vocational programs include office assistants and home economics. 99 JUBILATION Row 1 Scott Buckner. We started the year with the largest amount of members we've ever had. Also, this year's members have shown a tremendous amount of interest in the club. Pep Club put on an outrageous skit for the Homecoming Pep Assembly. Other activities we did included: served at the Fall Sports Awards Banquet; sold seat cushions, rooter Pom Poms and balloons; decorated the bleachers; made a hoop and many signs for Homecoming. The club also worked to initiate a policy of attendance at the games. Throughout the year we continued to show our undying spirit by supporting the Vikings! 104 Row 1 Tod Howard.
