Membership is obtainable through application only with enrollment limited to thirty-five members. This gives most of the members an opportunity to have the experience of assisting in the classroom. This year members have won their pins by assisting teachers in giving tests, helping students in need of additional tutoring in reading, arithmetic, and spelling, and by addressing and mailing literature to community residents on school building needs. Films pertinent to teaching have been shown to the club monthly. Experiences in working with younger students are exchanged among the members during club meetings. With the co- operation ofthe faculty, the industrial arts department, the art department, and the members of the junior class, the various committees successfully carried out their duties. The idea for the Oriental theme blossomed into a colorful pagoda-shaped hall in two shades of pink with an attractive black accent. The orchestra backdrop consisted of a maiden fronting a colorful Japanese fan. Surrounding the entrance-way was an enchanting garden scene in which a footbridge spanned a pond. The artists of the class did a great deal of work on the surrounding scenery. To give the radically designed ceiling the Oriental flavor, decorative Japanese lanterns were hung about. The surrounding streamers were hung in gay profusion. Under the direction of Mr. Sal Mardesic, advisor, Marilyn Loth, general chairman, supervised the planning of the Prom. Her committee chairmen were Dallas Carleton, decorationsg Joan Marney, pro- grams, Fred Ingrum, musicg Karen Willie, refreshments, Joe Rogge, chaperonesg and Bob Leedy, publicity The dance, helcl April 18, featured the music of the Queen's Men. 46 lm- --- M f -f w ,, X 'WNANAQ w .- .W . ..., In-9 jf' A , Q WM1fnzWH ' gt I it- 6 Li' ' . Homecoming this year sparked the student body into a blaze of ac- tivity. Pre-game celebration began on Thursday evening with a long and noisy car serpentine around the lake, ending at the school parking lot where a huge bonfire was built and students continued their cheers and yells. The bonfire was the largest one in years and the crowd was enthusiastic. Decorated cars added to the atmosphere. Competition among classes was the next order of the day. ln the gym, classes vied for skit, attendance, and song awards, a five-dollar prize for each competition. Seniors had the biggest attendance and also won the Song prize. Juniors had the best skit and were awarded the Pep Jug. Climaxing the activities was the dance in the gym after the Lake Stevens-Twin Cities game. Homecoming Queen Barbara Berg and King Bob Leedy ruled over the dance after being crowned by Kathy Bariel and Lance Mills, last year 's Queen and King. Princesses and Princes were: Ingrid Johnson, Judy McC1eary, Marilyn Loth, Connie Arnott, Bob Newell, Fred lngrum, Bruce Landre, and Lewis Duren. ln spite of the way the game turned out, Homecoming was a huge success due to the efforts and planning of the Lettergirls. 50 UCSD and Kin Barbara Ber Q 8 8 and Bob Leedy 13 'K 0 ,Q X ..
