The main features at this time was the publication of the Junior Beacon. Other added attractions of the year were G.A.A., Junior High Sports and Square Dancing. These activities were under the direction of Mrs. Adams, our class advisor. After a short summer intermission, we ambled back to our places. lr was Places, everyone and Quiet on the Set as 86 understudies reported to the studio. During our Sophomore year we placed 12 students in Torch, had 24 in G.A.A., 9 in Band, 23 participated in High School Sports Highlighting our social activities was Cupid Capers, our first maior dance. The year l9S6-57 spotlighted many activities sponsored by the Juniors. To finance our Junior Prom we held candy sales and raffled off a turkey during the holidays. The week of December l7-2l saw many shiny shoes as our candidates for Shoe Shine Queen were competing to rule over the annual Shoe Shine Dance. Much hidden talent was uncovered when we sponsored an all school talent show. Sixteen Juniors were received into torch. Members of our class also participated in G.A.A. and boys' sports. Climaxing the year was the great production ol Pacific Paradise, our Junior Prom. Lights! Camera! Action! And plenty of action took place during the year i957-58. The first big role starring the 73 Seniors was The Man Who Came to Dinner our Senior Play. Several members of the class helped to make the Homecoming game and dance a successful affair. Largely respon- sible for our success is our instructor, Miss Patricia HaIl.The choir's premiere performance was made at Christmas when members proved what practice and 'persistence can do.The choir and chorus shared the lime-light many more times this year as they performed at the Spring Concert, the Five-School Concert, and many exchange assemblies. The New York hit proved to be a fun-filled and rewarding experi- ence for every member of the cast. Many things about the play will not be soon for- gotten by the cast: The trip to Seattle to see a play that was postponed, the phonograph that wouldn't play in the 2nd act, the rehearsal until 2:30 a.m.!, the scenery that was almost knocked over by excited actors, Marilou Barclay in the mummy case - these were only a few of the har- rowing experiences that keep this play vivid in our minds. Mr. Martin in his first year as head football coach had a team of small, but scrappy ball play- ers who fought all the time, as was shown when they came from behind to tie Mount Si 19-19. This was further demonstrated when they ran wild in an upset 20-6 win over Concrete. The Vikings this year were again moved into a different league. The Cascade League was made up of teams that represented Class A schools. lt was composed of teams representing: Arlington, Concrete, Lake Stevens, Langley, Monroe, Oak Harbor and Twin City. The Vikings were led by Dick Slocum, honorary captain, Joe Rogge, outstanding player, and Jerry Hart, inspirational player and All-League second team guard. Jerry earned his award by making tackles and offensive blocks against players who were always bigger than himself. Off and Running Substitution! 1 - 3 N .'
