cLASS HISTORYC V The memory of that fateful day in '49 when we entered Lake Shore Junior High as bewildered seventh graders will remain with us for a long Time. When in school, we felt like small fish in a big pond, but out of school we felt quite proud of ourselves. It didn't take us long to become accustomed to the routines of Lake Shore. We liked Them all, probably, because they were so new to us. Dances and basketball games filled our social world. Quickly The month of June arrived and we had completed our first year at Lake Shore. Being eighth graders when school began again in September, we looked upon The new seventh graders with amazement, wondering if we were that small when we entered. We surely didn't Think so at the time. We were now qualified to ioin Y-Teens and Gra-Y, and to Take part in more school activities. A few of our boys were lucky enough to make Varsity Basketball. All these extra activities, along with the dances, football and basketball games, sped The school year to a close. Finally, we reached our goal-ninth graders at last! We were now the big wheels. The first semester of our ninth grade year offered some difficulties. Our gym was being remodeled in order to add bleachers and showers. Dances and games had to be postponed or worked out in other ways. Our Lookout Staff was organized early and was able to put out a September issue. Our first big proiect of the year was the election of class officers. With spirited campaigns, our officers and our sponsor, Mr. Hardage, were elected. With our ninth grade club organized, we put on the Hallowe'en Carnival, a great success, Though the stage show had to be performed in a partially completed gym. Following the carnival, the annual staff was organized and enthusiastically bgan its toil.
