How forcible are the right words, Chorus 35 Dramatics Club 3g Class Play 3, Ghss Jlglsfozy As we review the colorful experiences of our grade and high school days, we can picture the changing scenes from the frolicking first grade to the wiser twelfth grade. Grade school days were cheerful and carefree. Junior High, was our first step toward high school. Somehow we managed to make it through junior high. Freshmen at last! We began to raise money for our class by giving our freshman dance 'Spring Swing. This was a great success and lots of fun. We entered our Sophomore year with great hopes for the future. At our first class meeting we elected our class officers. They were: Ed Kravitz, president: Ed Martin, vice president, Marlene Salatinch, treasurer, and Shirley Iohnson, secretary. Our student council representatives were Ron Gagnon, Doug Graham and Jerry Keller. Plans for the rest of the year were made. Our first activity of the year was selling felt letters. This was a big success and was very profitable. As basketball season approached, another idea came into our minds, to sell pencils with the basketball schedules printed on them. with the coming of Christmas, we sponsored a decorative Christmas dance, Rudolph Ramble, which attracted many students. Our second dance, 'The Mammy Yokum Drag, was held in the spring atmosphere and all enjoyed themselves. At the beginning of our Junior year we chose class officers and student council re- presentatives. We started our year by selling magazine subscriptions. The campaign was very successful. We had the concessions and dances after some of the football and basketball games. Then in December our class rings arrived. One of our most important and most successful events was our class play Professor, How Could You. It was enjoyable to the audience as well as the ones who participated in it. The highlight of the year was the Junior-Senior prom which was held in June. To end a busy year we had a Junior-Senior picnic at Stony Lake. We treated the Seniors and really had a wonderful time. Seniors! Again we elected our class officers. These are the same officers we have had for the past three years. Our last year in high school started out with a bang. There were senior pictures, the Christmas card sale, just a few activities to start us out. To add to the excitement were the concessions and dances after the basketball game. We can't forget the wonderful times we had at the roller skating parties we had at Mr. Cle- ments. Other important events during the year were the Boy Scout-Senior Camival and the Junior-Senior picnic. Then before we knew it, we were climbing aboard the train heading for Washington, D. C. At last we were on our way. The trip was just too won- derful to describe. We agreed it was worth working for. We returned just in time for the Junior-Senior prom. It would take books to tell of the wonderful times we had in our Senior year. When we walk up to get our diplomas on Commencement night we know that there are many memories that we will never forget of our high school days. With regret and joy we look forward to new experiences and new situations in the future. BEST ATHLETES D, Graham, M. Thomas, T. Hurley, E. Cancelosa. goofgaf fs 1956 was a year which will long be remembered at Lake Shore. This was a year which saw one of the finest football teams in the school's history power through eight straight games without losing or tying. At the beginning of the season Coach Mel Sheppard was greeted by the smallest and lightest squad in Lake Shore's history. The boys had one factor on their side, deter- mination. This, coupled with hard work and a great spirit, gave them all the incentive they needed to win all of their games. The Shorians, picked for the cellar at the start of the season, flashed through their first three games with amazing ease. Still, they had to meet Centerline, Class B State Champions in '55 and Bi-County favorite in '56, That game was one which showed what potential Lake Shore's smaller and lighter team had. They soundly beat Centerline and set right to work with their sights on arch rival Utica. Utica was unbeaten in the league so far. One of the largest crowds in the Bi-County history watched Lake Shore outclass, outplay, and out score their rivals. lt was the worst defeat in Utica's history. Still the experts were in doubt. We had city rivals Lakeview and South Lake to deal with. The Shorians, unused to aftemoon football, soundly trounced the Lake- view Huskies and then they knew an undefeated season depended on their last game with South Lake. In this game the Shorians showed what made them champions. Un- daunted by a South Lake TD on the second play of the game, the Shorians stormed back to trounce the Cavaliers 39-6. This year's squad was made up of fifteen seniors, nine juniors, five sopho- mores, and one freshman. Lost in the graduation exercises will be fifteen lettermen. fgasfefgaf Qscoregoarof Lake Shore Fraser Lake Shore Warren Lake Shore South Lake Lake Shore Utica Lake Shore St. Mary Lake Shore Lakeview Lake Shore Harper Woods Lake Shore Centerline Lake Shore Anchor Bay Lake Shore Warren Lake Shore South Lake Lake Shore Utica Lake Shore St. Mary Lake Shore Lakeview Lake Shore Anchor Bay Lake Shore Centerline HN Q5 'Q ' Qfi 0 , 1 if 1 i 5 A Q v l i .
